US Ecology Michigan offers a variety of services to meet all aspects of our customers' needs. Beginning with sampling and analysis to transportation and disposal, US Ecology Michigan continues to develop cost-effective solutions to our customers' environmental concerns. Outlined below are specific details about our services.

AQUEOUS TREATMENT

US Ecology Michigan processes both regulated and non-regulated liquid industrial waste. Typically, these wastes are inorganic aqueous solutions containing acids, alkalis, and heavy metals. US Ecology Michigan is one of the primary receiving facilities in the Midwest for waste streams generated during steel finishing, electroplating, chemical manufacturing and remedial activities. To meet the demands of our customers, waste is processed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

PRODUCTS FOR BENEFICIAL REUSE

Our unique permit allows us to receive certain solid wastes and chemical materials which are effective substitutes for reuse as commercial products. These materials include iron salt solutions (i.e. ferric chloride, ferrous chloride and ferrous sulfate) which are used as treatment plant reagents.

CONTAINER MANAGEMENT

US Ecology Michigan operates a state-of-the-art Container Management Facility, which is permitted to receive over 800 federal and state waste codes. Waste may be treated on site, transshipped, or recycled. The versatility of our Container Management Facility allows us to offer a total waste management program to our customers at a competitive price. We manage both small and large quantities of waste that include: unused products, processed waste, universal waste, and waste streams generated during remediation projects.

FIELD SERVICES

US Ecology Michigan's field services group serves customers at their own facilities to handle specialized waste management needs. Utilizing our unique permit, we provide our customers excellent service with "one stop shopping". Some of these services include:

Project Management

Field service professionals can oversee all aspects of waste management related to remediation projects, plant cleanout, lab cleanouts and onsite management of waste.

Drum Management

Field service professionals have the expertise to manage the removal of any quantity of drums for proper disposal. Field personnel can inventory, characterize, label and load drum waste for disposal at US Ecology Michigan.

Unknown Drum Management

Our field service group has years of experience managing unknown waste. Unknown drums are sampled and analyzed for proper waste characterization. Once characterized, drums are labeled, properly packaged and loaded for final disposal at US Ecology Michigan.

Industrial Cleaning

Field service technicians are trained to safely clean/decontaminate trenches, dikes, floors and related equipment. Projects requiring confined space entry can be done using US Ecology Michigan's confined space entry team.

LAB ANALYSIS

US Ecology Michigan provides analytical services for waste characterization and compliance purposes. In accordance with our Part B Operating License, all parameters are analyzed using EPA SW-846 test methods.

LAB PACKS

US Ecology Michigan offers a detailed program for the management of obsolete chemicals, reagents, and other laboratory wastes, which pose special disposal problems. Our field chemists and technical service teams have the expertise to package materials into a "Lab Pack" and provide a cost-effective option for safe proper disposal. Our laboratory packaging services include:

  • Inventory and classification of chemicals to be discarded
  • Segregation of chemicals into appropriate hazard class and disposal technology
  • Packaging of chemicals in accordance with DOT specifications
  • Profiling, labeling and manifesting in accordance with state and federal regulations for proper disposal at US Ecology Michigan
  • Arranging Transportation

TRANSPORTATION

US Ecology Michigan is a national leader in the safe, efficient transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. We can arrange to pick up a wide range of hazardous and non-hazardous materials at your facility such as containerized waste, bulk liquids and bulk solids. We have a dedicated fleet of approximately 10 tractors (power units) and 17 trailers including specialized equipment such as box vans with liftgates, 316 stainless steel tankers, rubber lined tankers, insulated FRP tankers, roll-off with containers and vacuum boxes and both FRP and stainless vacuum tankers.

All US Ecology Michigan drivers are 40-hour Hazwoper trained to manage a wide variety of hazardous wastes as well as other regulated materials. We can also arrange for transportation through a network of reliable and pre-qualified transporters with trained drivers and the specialized equipment necessary to accommodate just about any transportation need . We use the most modern packaging, shipping, and 24-hour tracking technology. Our team knows where every load of waste is at any time.

NON HAZARDOUS STABILIZATION

Our state-of-the-art, permitted (PA 451 Part 115) Non-Hazardous Stabilization and Transfer Facility has three receiving units constructed with double reinforced concrete and lined with 3/4 inch welded steel barriers. Our fully automated ad-mix, blending and loading equipment can process up to 900 tons per day of material destined for landfill or waste-to-energy outlets. This totally enclosed process is kept under negative pressure and our air control system eliminates fugitive emissions at the source. We have a flexible delivery schedule with 24-Hour access to the site and can provide wash-out services if required for many types of waste:
